Wooden Mail Art

Wooden Mail ArtI thought about calling this article “Mail Me Wood” for a while, but decided against it in the end. This post is about the submissions that were sent on pieces of wood. Although there weren’t that many, I was still surprised to receive the number of entries using this material that I did. J. Shea’s piece (top) must have been the heaviest one, with Flavio Morais’ (bottom) being the most fragile. So fragile in fact that it actually got broken in transit, and was taped up and placed inside another envelope by the Spanish Post Office. Wood may not always be the best material to be left exposed while being transported, but it does make good mail art.

You can see more of J. Shea’s work here and a bit more of Flavio Morais’ here.
